Meet Bob Smithing, FNP

Now Living in: Kent, WA

How long on the Board: I was the last Chairperson of the WSNA, ARNP Special Interest Group and the first President of ARNPs United of Washington State. I have been actively involved with the Board in various roles since that time. I am currently the Executive Director.

Current work place and position: FamilyCare of Kent, a four nurse practitioner practice in Kent, WA where I am one of the owners and founding partners.

Brief work history: Practicing on the East Hill of Kent since 1985 when Maddy Wiley, ARNP and I opened our practice together.

Why specialty was chosen: I always enjoyed the flexibility and breadth of family practice. There's rarely a dull moment in practice.

Why you volunteered for the Board: Something that needed to be done and I thought I could make a contribution to the process.

Care most about regarding ARNPs: Continuing to let potential patients know who we are and what we do. Part of this is increasing the number of ARNP managed practices.

Hopes for AUWS: Growth of the organization and more member involvement
